Position Overview:
We are seeking a Lead Engineer to provide senior-level engineering expertise and leadership on complex electric transmission projects for high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead utility systems.

This role requires both hands-on technical involvement and team leadership. You will oversee and guide engineering work on line routing, survey coordination, PLS-CADD modeling, structure and foundation design, clearance verification, plan/profile development, material specification and procurement, constructability evaluations, work order package preparation, permitting, and coordination with vendors, subcontractors, and construction teams.

A key focus of this position is to ensure project quality, meet schedule deadlines, and foster an engaged, high-performing team. You will inspire team members to achieve the level of excellence expected in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of engineers, technicians, and drafters.

  • Set clear expectations, goals, and project vision.

  • Manage team performance and delegate tasks effectively.

  • Mentor, coach, and motivate team members to enhance skills and productivity.

  • Oversee project execution, ensuring quality deliverables and timely completion.

  • Review and approve engineering design submittals.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.

  • Participate in project estimation and proposal development.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (required).

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification (required).

  • Minimum of 10 years of transmission line engineering experience in the electric utility sector (required).

  • Extensive experience with PLS-CADD for transmission line design (required).

  • Strong knowledge of design codes and standards including NESC, IEEE, ASCE, and ACI.

  • Proven experience coordinating with substation, environmental, real estate, construction, and maintenance stakeholders.

  • Deep understanding of engineering, procurement, and construction practices in the industry.

  • Strong project management skills, with a history of delivering high-quality work on time.

  • Commitment to safety and compliance with all safety regulations.

  • Self-motivated and adaptable, thriving in unstructured and deadline-driven environments.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability with experience coaching and guiding teams.

  • Excellent collaboration, business, and technical communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).

  • Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and maintain a satisfactory driving record per company policy.
