Director of Utilities Engineering
The Director of Utilities Engineering ensures quality across all projects, oversees department operations, and develops team members. This includes assigning personnel to project teams, approving departmental fees and proposals, managing staffing levels to meet project schedules, addressing construction-related issues, and mentoring engineers, designers, and CAD staff.
Who You Are

Bachelors or masters degree in electrical engineering.

Minimum of 15 years of experience, including at least 4 years in a supervisory or responsible-in-charge role.

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required; PMP preferred.

Strong knowledge of utility industry standards (NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, ANSI).

Expertise in substation design, including physical layout, one-lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.

Skilled communicator and mentor with strong leadership and organizational abilities.
What Youll Do

Manage department resources and mentor technical staff.

Lead substation design for complex projects and conduct quality reviews.

Supervise and review calculations, drawings, and specifications; perform condition assessments and feasibility studies.

Monitor team utilization and performance metrics.

Contribute to proposal preparation, marketing, and client meetings.

Coordinate training and professional development programs.

Support recruitment, staff evaluations, and business development efforts.
