Senior Overhead Transmission Line Engineer

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Structural Engineer to:

• Develop and apply advanced engineering techniques, concepts, and approaches to complex structural problems.

• Provide technical guidance or supervise engineering staff on projects of low to medium complexity.

• Develop, validate, and present specialist technical output.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Standards

• Provide guidance on departmental design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes, and organizational policies.

• Assist in developing and updating engineering standards.

• Offer technical guidance on projects and disciplines.

Quality / Continuous Improvement

• Apply advanced knowledge to ensure compliance with the organizations quality program.

• Provide guidance and oversight to support continuous improvement and change management initiatives.

Engineering Production

• Prepare complex engineering deliverables for multiple or large-scale projects.

• Conduct research and provide recommendations for equipment and material selection.

• Oversee data collection, assimilation, and engineering work management.

• Perform complex calculations and apply advanced engineering solutions.

• Review lower-level engineering work and manage assigned budgets, schedules, and quality requirements.

• Lead production teams, coordinate multi-discipline activities, and serve as responsible charge for projects.

Project Coordination

• Coordinate with internal and external team members on moderately complex projects.

Client Focus

• Support identification of client needs and project drivers.

• Communicate client requirements to project teams and develop strategies to meet project objectives.

• Support business development and pursuit activities as needed.

Knowledge Sharing, Innovation, and Technology

• Act as a technical specialist providing guidance on complex projects.

• Mentor team members and actively contribute to knowledge management initiatives.

• Develop and apply advanced engineering concepts and approaches to unique challenges.

People Management

• Support performance management, mentoring, recognition, and corrective actions.

• Participate in career planning, learning, and development initiatives.

Resource Management

• Implement resource management strategies.

• Manage engineering resources for small teams within a single discipline.

Administrative

• Ensure policies, procedures, and processes are effectively implemented and communicated.

• Approve timesheets and expense reports as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in PLS-CADD.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable standards.

• Experience with client-facing projects and relationship-building.

• Ability to think quickly on-site and respond effectively to client needs.

• Experience with utility-scale electrical transmission systems, transmission steel structures, foundations, and basic 3D structural steel/concrete analysis.

• Strong skills in delegation, team building, conflict management, and prioritization.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an accredited program.

• Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience.

• Ability to complete pre-employment requirements including background checks, drug screening, and compliance checks.

Certifications

• Professional registration or licensure may be required or candidates should be in active pursuit.
