The Opportunity

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role as either a Technical Specialist offering deep subject matter expertise or as a Supervisory Leader, guiding engineering teams on medium to high complexity Conventional Power Generation Projects.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Design

  • Develop detailed electrical design deliverables, including:

    • One-line and three-line diagrams

    • Motor and breaker control schematics, wiring diagrams

    • Power cable sizing and cable schedules

  • Perform complex engineering analyses, such as load flow, short circuit, motor starting, arc flash analysis, relay settings, and battery/charger sizing (ETAP or SKM).

  • Prepare electrical equipment specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM) for procurement and construction.

  • Create project and proposal budgets, schedules, and technical documentation.

  • Provide on-site support: attend meetings, investigate field conditions, liaise with stakeholders, and assist during construction.

  • Utilize Microsoft Office, ProjectWise, ETAP, and AutoCAD for project execution.

Leadership & Quality

  • Lead production teams, coordinate multidisciplinary activities, and act as Engineer of Record when required.

  • Uphold and contribute to the development of engineering standards, codes, and best practices.

  • Implement quality assurance (QA/QC) processes and foster continuous improvement.

Project Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate across internal and external teams on complex projects.

  • Understand and address key stakeholder goals, ensuring alignment with project execution strategies.

  • Support business development and proposal efforts.

Knowledge Sharing & Mentorship

  • Serve as a subject matter expert within the organization and industry.

  • Mentor and train junior engineers, contributing to technical committees, publications, or code development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License

  • Proven expertise in utility-scale conventional power generation design and project leadership.

  • Consulting experience in LV/MV power distribution systems.

  • Proficiency in NEC and IEEE/ANSI standards.

  • In-depth knowledge of electrical equipment, including switchgear, transformers, panel boards, breakers, protective relays, inverters, batteries, chargers, cables, and fiber optics.

  • Strong understanding of engineering design principles and applicable standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited program.

  • At least 11 years of related work experience.

  • Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screening, MVR check).

Location

Ideal candidates will be based in or willing to relocate to Overland Park, KS (Kansas City), Cary, NC (Raleigh), or Ann Arbor, MI.
