Environmental Air Specialist
This position involves managing air permitting and compliance projects while supporting a range of environmental initiatives for industrial and commercial clients. The role includes technical work, client coordination, and documentation related to air quality and broader multimedia environmental compliance efforts.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and submit comprehensive air permit application packages, including all supporting documentation.

Perform environmental site assessments and inspections to verify compliance with federal, state, and local air quality standards.

Estimate and calculate emissions, including routine, greenhouse gas, maintenance, startup, and shutdown emissions.

Collaborate with clients and internal teams to manage project scopes, budgets, and timelines effectively.

Support multimedia compliance efforts, including preparation of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, and Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) filings.

Ensure strict adherence to company and site-specific safety protocols.

Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience (10 years preferred).

A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of required experience.

Prior experience in environmental consulting related to air permitting, compliance audits, environmental management systems, and technical reporting is preferred.

In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local air quality regulations, particularly those under the Clean Air Act, including:

New Source Review (NSR) / Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD)

National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP)

New Source Performance Standards (NSPS)

Title V and Title VI (Ozone-Depleting Substances)

Familiarity with air dispersion modeling software (e.g., AERMOD, AERSCREEN, CALPUFF, VISCREEN, PLUVUE, SLAB) is a plus.

Background or experience in sustainability initiatives is advantageous.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.

High attention to detail and the ability to manage complex regulatory requirements.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
