Senior Substation Design Engineer
The Senior Substation Design Engineer will lead detailed design efforts for new substations, preparing design documents, technical specifications, drawings, and calculations. This role involves creating electrical plans, schematics, bills of materials, and equipment specifications while ensuring adherence to industry standards and client requirements.
Who You Are

Bachelors degree in electrical engineering; Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on substation design.

Strong knowledge of substation physical and electrical layouts, including general arrangements, equipment plans, cable design, conduit fill, and rigid bus calculations.

Familiarity with power delivery design processes; protection and control experience is a plus.

Solid understanding of NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI standards.

Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with clients.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and standard engineering design tools.
What Youll Do

Perform detailed substation layout and design, including calculations for grounding, DC loading, AC auxiliary power, bus sizing, lighting, and cable sizing.

Prepare design documentation, specifications, drawings, and bills of materials for new substation projects.

Ensure all designs comply with client standards, guidelines, and applicable industry codes.

Coordinate and communicate project activities with engineers, designers, and client representatives.

Support quality, safety, and efficiency in every stage of design development.
