Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and optimization of cosmetic formulas based on market research, consumer needs, and brand direction.
- Select and source high-quality ingredients that meet regulatory standards and product objectives.
- Create prototypes and fine-tune formulas based on testing and feedback to ensure high-quality performance and safety.
- Oversee the stability testing of new products under various environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, light, etc.) and ensure adherence to required testing protocols.
- Conduct physical, microbial, and efficacy tests to ensure product performance and safety.
- Prepare and present detailed stability test reports, outlining findings, necessary formula adjustments, and product viability for commercialization.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers
- Collaborate with internal departments (R&D, Marketing, Regulatory, Manufacturing) to ensure alignment on product goals, timelines, and quality standards.
- Facilitate regular cross-functional meetings to ensure project progress and resolve any issues that arise during product development.
- Lead and manage a team of lab formulator, ensuring clear delegation of tasks and setting realistic timelines.
- Track project progress, adjust workloads, and ensure deadlines are met.
- Act as the main point of contact for the lab formulator team and provide support to ensure efficient workflow and problem resolution.
- Monitor and report on laboratory expenses, including raw materials, testing costs, and labor, identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
- Provide regular budget updates to senior management and make adjustments as necessary to ensure financial goals are met.
Requirements:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in cosmetics product development, with a strong understanding of formulation, stability testing, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of cosmetic ingredient sourcing, formulation techniques, and testing protocols.
- Experience with budgeting and cost control in a laboratory or product development setting.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and industry standards for cosmetics.
- Strong adaptability and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
- Fast learner, proactive, exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Strong in business etiquette and able to maintain network with external party.
