The Echocardiograph Technologist performs cardiac ultrasound examinations according to physician's orders, utilizing a variety of complex ultrasound equipment. Objectively identifies the presence or absence of disease utilizing a thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Assists physicians with more invasive echocardiography examinations including, but not limited to, Transesophageal echocardiography, Trans-catheter echo-guided procedures (location specific), pericardiocentesis, echo-guided myocardial biopsies (location specific), contrast-enhanced exams, exercise, and pharmacological stress echocardiography. Has the ability to modify procedures, to meet special circumstances and/or provide clinically useful information on a cost-effective basis.

This position requires shared coverage for stand-by and call-back emergency studies in the evenings and weekends. This may include shared regional coverage to other Portland facilities and or rotation through staffed weekend shifts.

Must Haves:

  • Upon hire: Oregon Sonographer Licence
  • Upon hire: National Registered Cardiac Sonographer - Cardiovascular Credentialing International Or
  • Upon hire: National Advanced Cardiac Sonographer - Cardiovascular Credentialing International Or 
  • Upon hire: National Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association

Preferred:

  • Associate's Degree in Applied Science, from a CAAHPE-accredited school in Noninvasive Cardiovascular Technology, or Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • 1 year of experience performing cardiovascular ultrasound examinations, OR
    Minimum of 800 exams using all imaging modalities available.
  • Pediatric echocardiography experience.
  • Familiarity with imaging support of advanced heart failure patients (mechanical support devices).
  • Experience with echo-guided trans-catheter procedures.
