Scope:
Project Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Content and Collaboration Services (CCS), the SharePoint Analysts primary role will be responsible for providing technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for the GoA SharePoint environments. You will collaborate closely with end-users, IT teams, and stakeholders to ensure the smooth functioning of SharePoint sites and applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
The SharePoint Analyst will review and understand departmental and corporate policies, business rules, data requirements and supporting system processes and ensure that project objectives and schedules align with the overall department goals and the corporate business plan.
The SharePoint Analyst will provide analysis and recommendations on process improvements and to applications, SharePoint sites, hosting infrastructure and include details of risks, dependencies, business impacts, interdependencies, and policy implications pertaining to internal/external expectations and influence the methodology to be applied on projects.
This resource will have working knowledge and experience of IT infrastructure environments including general concepts of workstation/server hardware, software build and push strategies, and a general understanding of line-of-business applications and architectures. The resource must have a sound understanding of IT Change and Communication Management and User Acceptance Testing frameworks. A proven ability to function on an individual basis and in a team environment is essential. Resources awareness of existing GoA and department IT policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and practices is an asset.
This resource will participate in the M365 and SharePoint Online Migration Project, includes planning, designing, testing, migration, and implementation activities as it relates to SharePoint Online and related products.
Duties:
- Support Microsoft SharePoint environments, including SharePoint 2016 On-Premise and SharePoint Online.
- Perform business analysis and design to support creating SharePoint solutions.
- Provide first and second-level technical support for SharePoint-related issues, including user inquiries, system errors, and performance problems.
- Troubleshoot SharePoint site and application issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as software updates, patch installations, and system configurations, to ensure the stability and security of the SharePoint environment.
- Monitor SharePoint servers, services, and workflows to proactively identify and resolve potential issues before they impact users.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement enhancements to SharePoint sites and applications.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and training materials to support end-users and IT staff in using and administering SharePoint.
- Participate in testing and quality assurance activities to validate the functionality, performance, and usability of SharePoint solutions.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to SharePoint and collaborate with the team to evaluate their potential impact and benefits.
- Perform business requirements and complex design in delivering solutions using out-of-box SharePoint components and 3rd party tools (e.g. Nintex) as appropriate to meet business needs
- Provide expertise for the design of new processes for support of Microsoft SharePoint and related systems.
- Guiding business users on the effective use of SharePoint for Enterprise Content Management
- Validation of data used to support migration efforts
- Resolution of day-to-day problems arising through operational support of SharePoint
- Development and implementation of solutions both individually and as a member of SharePoint operations team
- Routine reports that correlate hours worked with operational duties
- Work directly with Government of Alberta technical staff and other stakeholders.

- Experience as a Site Collection Administrator - 2 years
- Experience preparing and documenting materials for user acceptance testing - 2 years
- Experience troubleshooting forms and workflows (all types) - 2 years
- Experience using and supporting ShareGate - 2 years
- Experience with complex SharePoint projects including solutions depending on: managed metadata, workflows, forms, and user interface customization - 2 years
