Multiple Positions
What You Will Be Doing:
- Providing nursing care to individuals with mental illness, concurrent disorders, and complex presentations
- Crisis assessment and de-escalation in institutional and community settings
- Supporting care coordination between facility staff, mental health providers, and the external community services
- Navigating consent under the Health Care Consent Act — working with patients who may lack capacity
- Maintaining clinical documentation in compliance with PHIPA
- Health promotion and patient education for individuals with mental health conditions
- Collaboration with correctional officers, youth workers, school staff, and community providers, as applicable to the setting
Must-Haves:
- CNO registered, in good standing
- Minimum 7 years RN experience
- Inpatient psychiatric, community mental health, or crisis intervention experience
- Working knowledge of HCCA (Health Care Consent Act) — you have navigated consent with patients lacking capacity
- PHIPA knowledge — you handle personal health information in compliance with Ontario privacy law
- Experience with involuntary or non-voluntary patients
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing — RN diploma or BScN
- Current BLS / BCLS certification
- Legal right to work in Canada
- Available for in-person assignments — this is not remote work
Preferred:
- CRPN designation (Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing)
- ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)
- NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) training
- Experience with Indigenous populations or Indigenous cultural safety training
- ACT team (Assertive Community Treatment) or crisis response team background
- Experience with homeless, street-involved, or marginalized populations
- Experience at: CAMH (Toronto), Royal Ottawa, Ontario Shores (Whitby), Waypoint Center, Brockville Mental Health Center
