About the client

Our client is an international nonprofit organization with a mission to expand financial access to help underserved communities thrive. They run a global marketplace platform to crowdfund microloans for financially excluded entrepreneurs, farmers and students around the world. The company serves as a bridge between large-scale impact first investors and underserved populations. Their digital identity platform enables borrowers who dont have a track record with traditional financial institutions to record and verify their financial history and gain access to less costly mainstream financial markets.

About the role

As a Principal Site Reliability Engineer, you'll be a key leader on a small, established SRE team. You'll play a key role in defining and building their core AWS-based infrastructure, observability systems, and tooling to support the evolution of the async, message-driven services running on K8s/AWS.

What you need to succeed in this role

  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with AWS and infrastructure-as-code (eg, Terraform).

  • 8+ years of relevant industry experience.

  • 3+ years of backend development experience.

  • Expert in Production System engineering.

  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex microservices and monolith applications.

  • Significant experience with Kubernetes and/or Kafka.

  • Experience monitoring a complex SaaS platform using tools like DataDog, New Relic, etc.

  • Experience building automated workflows and reducing toil using Python or similar scripting languages.

  • Self-disciplined and self-managed with a strong sense of urgency and ownership.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tooling.
