Position Overview:
The Project Engineer supports the Project Manager and site team in the planning, coordination, and execution of multi-family home construction projects. This role ensures project documentation, communication, and technical processes are maintained to facilitate efficient project delivery. The Project Engineer is integral to keeping projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Support and Coordination:
Assist the Project Manager in developing and updating project schedules, budgets, and plans.
Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and team members to ensure project milestones are met.
Maintain project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and submittals.
Support pre-construction planning, including reviewing project plans and conducting site assessments.
Document Control:
Manage and distribute construction documents, including RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
Ensure all project files are accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
Track and monitor changes to the scope of work and notify stakeholders of potential impacts.
Quality Assurance:
Assist in reviewing subcontractor work to ensure it meets project specifications and standards.
Conduct site visits to monitor progress and resolve technical issues.
Participate in punch-list creation and follow-up to ensure timely project closeout.
Cost and Procurement Support:
Assist in tracking and managing project costs, budgets, and financial reporting.
Help prepare purchase orders, monitor deliveries, and verify material compliance with specifications.
Analyze cost variances and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures.
Communication and Reporting:
Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly project reports.
Facilitate clear communication between project stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
Participate in project meetings, taking detailed notes and following up on action items.
Safety and Compliance:
Support the implementation of safety protocols and procedures.
Ensure compliance with building codes, permits, and regulations.
Report and document any safety concerns or incidents.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Experience:
1-3 years of experience in construction or project engineering, preferably in multi-family residential projects.
Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
Technical Knowledge:
Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend) and tools like Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
Skills:
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to visit and navigate construction sites, including walking on uneven terrain and climbing stairs or ladders.
Occasionally lifting materials or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
