As our Client's operations grow, we are looking for a dependable and safety-conscious Barge Loader/Unloader to join our client's team.
Job Summary:
The Barge Loader/Unloader is responsible for safely and efficiently loading and unloading bulk materials onto and from barges at terminal or dock facilities. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in outdoor and physically demanding environments.
Key Responsibilities:

Safely operate equipment such as conveyors, loaders, cranes, and hoses for loading/unloading barge cargo.

Connect and disconnect loading arms, hoses, or lines to barge connections as per standard operating procedures.

Inspect barge compartments for cleanliness, readiness, and proper containment before and after loading/unloading.

Monitor material flow and adjust systems to ensure even distribution and avoid overloading or spillage.

Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment and report any deficiencies.

Maintain accurate records and documentation of product transfers, quantities, and any incidents or deviations.

Adhere strictly to safety and environmental regulations (OSHA, USCG, EPA, etc.).

Participate in safety drills and wear required PPE at all times.
Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or GED required.

1+ years of experience in barge, marine, terminal, or industrial operations preferred.

Familiarity with barge types, loading systems, and dock procedures.

Basic mechanical skills and ability to operate heavy equipment or hand tools.

Physically capable of lifting, climbing, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Strong understanding of safety practices and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
Preferred Certifications:

TWIC Card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)

OSHA 10 or 30 Hour Safety Certification

Confined Space Entry and Fall Protection Training

Forklift or equipment operator certification
