Heavy Equipment Operator

Job Summary:

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of heavy machinery used in construction, excavation, grading, and site development. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of equipment capabilities, safety protocols, and site procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate heavy equipment such as Forklifts, trucks, and wheel loaders in a safe and efficient manner.

• Perform routine equipment inspections and report any mechanical issues or needed repairs.

• Follow site plans, grades, and directions from supervisors to perform excavation, loading, grading, trenching, and material movement tasks.

• Maintain awareness of surroundings and communicate effectively with ground crews and other operators to ensure job site safety.

• Adhere to safety standards, regulations, and company policies at all times.

• Perform minor maintenance such as checking fluids, greasing, and cleaning machines.

• Keep accurate logs of equipment usage and maintenance as required.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.

• 5+ years of experience operating heavy equipment, diesel mechanics, or electrical systems.

• Valid equipment operator certification and/or CDL (Class A or B) preferred.

• Strong understanding of grades, blueprints, and excavation best practices.

• Ability to operate multiple types of heavy equipment is a plus.

• Good hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, and physical stamina.

• Must be able to work in varying weather conditions and in physically demanding environments.
