An immediate opening for a motivated Data Engineer for a permanent position at our client.  We are not sponsoring work visa's at this time. In addition there is no relocation available.  Position in located on-site in Downtown Denver, CO.

Under general direction, the Data Engineer is responsible for monitoring and administering the Data Warehouse and associated ETL processes, working with business users to create reports and dashboards, developing and maintaining inhouse data pipelines to ensure high availability, and troubleshooting any technical data issues that a user or company employee might encounter. Other duties may include creating cross system interfaces, establishing best practices, creating/documenting processes and procedures, and managing data-related projects, identifying and implementing opportunities to improve data workflows, processes, and visualization tools. The Data Engineer is also responsible to work with the Infrastructure and IIOT teams to discuss the need for network changes and the feasibility of projects recommended by company users and IT personnel. This position reports to the Manager Data Engineering & Analytics in the Denver office.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Establish relationships with key partners throughout the business from diverse departments such as Accounting, Land, Engineering, and Field Operations.
  • Build scalable systems, participate in discussions, while following development best practices. Must be able to write quality code and build high availability systems.
  • Work with business users to identify and automate manual processes.
  • Map, develop, and maintain ETL processes for the Enterprise Data Warehouse and various other cross-system interfaces.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain reports, visualizations and dashboards based on user requirements and needs that support and improve business decisions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on the data models and interfaces used across our software products. Provide guidance to stakeholders and create a shared understanding among analysts and technical teams.
  • Build confidence with our business partners by adding value to discussions, being responsive, and following through on action items.
  • Maintain respectful and productive working relationships within and across all work groups, ensuring effective collaboration and cooperation.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelors Degree or equivalent relevant experience.
    • 3+ years of experience in MSSQL, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, and Power BI.
    • Expertise in taking data projects from ideation to implementation.
    • 3+ years of Data Analytics experience.
    • Highly detailed with a systematic approach, sense of responsibility and strong, positive customer focus. Results focused to drive the defined team and organizational goals.
    • Self-manage time and projects. Make recommendations to improve existing projects and to identify opportunities for new automation and process improvements while balancing existing workload and customer expectations.
    • Understand both the business processes of the groups we work with, and the technical details of the software to be an effective liaison for the IT department.
    • Work in a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs ETLs, interfaces, and automation for databases, applications, tools etc.
    • Strong conceptual and creative problem-solving skills; work with ambiguity; learn new and complex concepts quickly. Independently resourceful.
    • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform tools.
    • Proficient knowledge in creating BI reporting dashboards (PowerBI and/or Spotfire).
    • Strong knowledge in programming languages such as Python, SQL or R for data wrangling, aggregation, and manipulation.
    • Experience working with SQL Server to query, create, and manage databases.
    • Experience deploying, optimizing, and maintaining cloud and on-prem data solutions (e.g., SqlServer, Azure, Snowflake).
    • Solid understanding of data quality concepts.
    • A great communicator, strong project management skills, and superb attention to details.
    • Strong collaborator to work with all business units.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Previous experience in Oil and Gas Exploration & Production
    • 1-2+ years experience in Azure
    • Spotfire experience
    • SCADA systems experience

    Additional Information

    Pay Range: $99,000 - $110,000 Depending on Experience
