Sr Java Application Developer

Location: Sacramento, CA (hybrid: onsite 3 days per week)

Type: Contract, W2 only

Duration: 12 months

Pay: DOE, all-inclusive

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Java Application Developer to support a mission-critical enterprise system for a public sector client. This role involves end-to-end application development using Java, Spring, and Oracle technologies, along with participation in design sessions, code reviews, and knowledge transfer.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain enterprise software using Java, Spring MVC, Spring Batch, and Spring Web Services.
• Participate in system analysis and design sessions to enhance enterprise applications.
• Attend and contribute to Joint Application Requirements (JAR) and Joint Application Design (JAD) meetings.
• Review and sign off on design documentation and business requirements.
• Analyze and optimize SQL code and database performance (Oracle).
• Conduct peer code reviews and provide mentorship on best practices.
• Support testing phases including UAT, triage defects, and resolve technical issues.
• Document technical solutions and lead knowledge transfer sessions with internal teams.
• Collaborate using tools like Jira, Bitbucket, ServiceNow, Eclipse IDE, and SQL Developer.

Qualifications:

• 15+ years of experience supporting web applications on Oracle and troubleshooting SQL code.
• 15+ years facilitating JAD/JAR sessions and conducting design/code reviews.
• 15+ years of experience with Java, J2EE, and JavaScript frameworks.
• 15+ years of experience with Spring MVC, Spring Batch, and Spring Web Services.
• 10+ years of experience designing and tuning SQL for performance.
• 10+ years of experience with Jira, Bitbucket, ServiceNow, SQL Developer, and Eclipse IDE.
• Experience with governmental retirement or health benefits systems (preferred).
• Experience designing and deploying applications in Azure or AWS (preferred).
