Pay: $50/hr - $60/hr, DOE, all-inclusive

A leading global biotech company is seeking a Research Engineer to join its Systems Technology group, dedicated to improving DNA sequencing workflows, system performance, and sustainability. The role will cover many aspects related to the fabrication, assembly and testing of custom devices, fixtures, breadboards and prototypes.
Responsibilities:
- Use CNC milling/machining, laser cutting, and 3D printing to fabricate and modify parts
- Operate, maintain, and repair various lab equipment and instruments, including custom systems
- Perform microfabrication tasks such as substrate cleaning, photolithography, etching, and bonding
- Assemble mesofluidic and microfluidic devices and systems
- Test, characterize, and optimize device and system performance
- Collect data, document observations, and assist in analysis and interpretation of results
- Use metrology instruments to characterize parts and evaluate manufacturing methods
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to develop test plans, protocols, and reports
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related field
- 15 years of relevant industry experience in part fabrication, device assembly, testing, and system troubleshooting
- A solid understanding of engineering fundamentals
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience with SolidWorks and CAM software (preferred)
- Experience with fabricating, assembling and testing electro-mechanical and fluidic systems (preferred)
- Experience working in a cleanroom (preferred)
