Expectations

  • 3+ years of experience in an analytical role
  • 3+ years of SQL (Teradata) development experience
  • Prior work on business projects & reporting
  • Experience with:
    • Cloud infrastructure platforms (Google Cloud Platform, AWS)
    • Enterprise reporting suites & data visualization tools (MicroStrategy, Adobe, Google Analytics)
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as R &/or Python
  • Must be a US Citizen, GreenCard Holder, H4/L2 EAR, or H1/TN transfer
  • Must be a US resident

Additional Technical & Professional Expertise

  • Bachelors/Undergraduate Degree in a related field
  • Communication skills, including the ability to identify & communicate data-driven insights
  • Retail experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal communication skills for all audiences, both technical & non-technical
  • Ability to create visualizations, summaries, & present complex analytical techniques, data, & recommendations in simple business speak
  • Experience with Big Data environments
  • Exposure to data lakes, NoSQL, & unstructured data
  • Experience working with capturing reporting on current & historical data
  • Prior work with Transformations, Complex reports, Report Services Documents (Dashboards), & Rolling Metrics
  • Experience working with underlying databases & tables. Understands table relationships to be able to do dimensional modeling; understands lookup tables & fact tables.
  • Advanced analytical & problem-solving skills & an ability to work independently in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • High degree of analytical curiosity, including the ability to identify & proactively solve problems
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, self-motivated, strong sense of ownership/accountability, & results-oriented with the ability to manage time & schedules effectively

Job Description

As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for supporting the business by developing integrated data solutions, analyzing data, data visualizations, customer & marketing datasets, interpreting results, & developing actionable insights & recommendations for use across the company. This position will develop, test, & implement statistically sound customer models & other deep-dive analytical projects that directly grow both the top & bottom lines for DSW. The role will synthesize business data into powerful models & insights to drive decisions that propel the business forward.

In addition, you will be responsible for data mining & testing against hypotheses that impact Key Performance Indicators. Ideal candidates enjoy working in demanding & fast-paced environments & are proactive, goal-oriented, & team players.

Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Integrate & aggregate complex data from multiple data sources & platforms that enhance business access to information & facilitate a data-driven culture
  • Develop dashboards & reports to help analyze the performances of various marketing programs
  • Create & automate reports/tools to quickly identify changes in trends/key metrics, elevate issues, & identify areas for improvement
  • Analyze overall customer data trends to create & communicate actionable insights that help drive decision making
  • Produce ad-hoc queries that develop reports to support business needs
  • Turn business questions into functional analysis & identify business opportunities, support the development of machine learning models & other statistics-based analytics
  • Translate business decisions into financial impact in terms of sales, margin, expense, & customer KPIs
  • Collaborates directly with key business partners & leaders to solve business problems or knowledge gaps & identify analytical opportunities to drive innovative decision making
  • Understands the broader Marketing & Retail landscapes to proactively identify analytical opportunities to impact the business
