Accounts Payable Specialist  Woodstock | Hybrid | $50,000 – $65,000

OVERVIEW

A growing and well-established construction company in the North Atlanta area is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join its team. This role is responsible for managing vendor and subcontractor payments, processing invoices, and ensuring financial accuracy across active projects.

The ideal candidate will have experience in construction accounting and a strong understanding of purchase orders, pay applications, and contract compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Invoice & Payment Processing

  • Review and process vendor invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor pay applications for accuracy and contract compliance
  • Manage payment schedules in alignment with project timelines and terms
  • Maintain organized records of expenses, approvals, and supporting documentation
  • Ensure billing aligns with completed work and contractual obligations

Contracts & Change Orders

  • Assist in maintaining accurate contract and subcontractor documentation
  • Track and process change orders, ensuring proper approvals prior to payment

Compliance & Reconciliation

  • Verify vendor documentation including W-9s and insurance requirements
  • Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations
  • Perform account reconciliations and manage AP aging

Financial Support

  • Assist with job cost tracking and expense monitoring
  • Support variance analysis and cost allocation

Vendor Relations

  • Serve as a point of contact for vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve AP processes and efficiency
  • Utilize accounting systems to enhance workflow and accuracy

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • 3+ years of Accounts Payable experience
  • Construction industry experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with subcontractor invoicing, pay applications, and job cost tracking preferred

Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills
