Position Summary
We are seeking a Civil Aviation Project Manager to oversee civil engineering projects within the aviation sector, including both airside and landside operations. This role is responsible for ensuring all project objectives are met in alignment with scope, schedule, and budget. The Project Manager will provide leadership in planning, resource management, stakeholder communication, risk management, and quality assurance.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects in accordance with established scope, schedule, and budget
- Collaborate with internal disciplines and subconsultants to develop risk-aware project scopes and fees
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and quality management plans
- Lead subconsultant management and ensure successful execution of project deliverables
- Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies
- Prepare and manage project documentation, proposals, and extra work order requests
- Communicate updates and project status to internal leadership and external stakeholders
- Participate in financial review meetings and prepare progress reports and invoices
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure alignment on goals and project outcomes
- Guide and coordinate technical resources across project teams for quality delivery
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and leadership to project team members, including performance management and professional development
- Support business development activities including proposal development, interviews, and Go/No-Go decisions
Required Skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
- Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams
Must Have
- Bachelors degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program
- Professional Engineer (PE) license with ability to obtain registration in required states within 3 months of hire
- 7+ years of experience in civil engineering project management
- Demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary teams on complex projects
Nice to Have
- CAPM or PMP certification
- Experience in airside airport civil infrastructure design (runways, taxiways, taxilanes, RSA improvements) in accordance with FAA guidelines
- Familiarity with various delivery methods including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and P3
- Local experience in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, DC
