Quality Engineer
Shift: 3rd Shift (9:30 PM 6:00 AM) | Training on 1st Shift (6:00 AM 2:30 PM)
Schedule: Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our team on third shift. In this role, you will provide quality planning, control, and continuous improvement support to ensure that all products meet customer expectations. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, supply management, and manufacturing, to drive quality initiatives and resolve production issues. Training will be provided on first shift, with duration based on prior experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality planning and support across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams
- Apply quality tools as part of the Enterprise Product Delivery and Order Fulfillment processes
- Review and analyze warranty information to identify and resolve manufacturing-related issues
- Monitor and interpret daily quality metrics and Defects Per Unit (DPU) reports
- Support containment of known quality issues and assist in corrective action activities
- Create and distribute Temporary Deviations and Change Notices
- Facilitate and document root cause analyses (RCAs) and nonconformance corrective actions (NCCAs)
- Lead resolution of findings from final product audits and audit disposition meetings
- Drive daily non-conforming material review processes and maintain SPC tracking
- Ensure execution and regular updates of control plans in assigned zones
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
- 13 years of experience in a quality engineering role preferred, though recent graduates will be considered
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes (8D methodology)
- Hands-on production floor experience
- Familiarity with mistake-proofing techniques, control plans, and PFMEA
- Understanding of manufacturing statistical methods, including control charting and capability analysis
Physical and Other Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs as part of material handling responsibilities
- Safety shoes with internal metatarsal protection required
- May operate shop-floor equipment (such as a Gator) upon completion of required safety training
