About the job Manufacturing Engineer - Material Flow
We are seeking a Material Flow Engineer to join our team at a dynamic manufacturing facility in Horicon, WI. This role is critical in driving operational excellence by supporting material flow strategies, optimizing internal logistics, and ensuring efficiency across production lines. Ideal candidates are process-oriented, eager to contribute to continuous improvement, and excited to work hands-on in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Entry-level engineers with relevant internship or practical experience are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and facilitate projects focused on material movement, storage, and part presentation.
- Collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production Planning to enhance warehouse, transportation, and inter-factory logistics processes.
- Train cross-functional teams on material flow systems and tools.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts, including 5S, Lean principles, and visual factory standards.
- Support automation initiatives and robotic solutions in material handling, including daily robot mission oversight and maintenance.
- Define and implement innovative replenishment strategies and materials presentation methods across all production lines.
- Manage warehousing strategies, including bin assignments, dynamic storage planning, and capacity management.
- Develop and maintain tools and systems such as repack databases, part ordering tools, RFID tracking, and change request documentation.
- Lead inventory accuracy initiatives and physical inventory processes.
- Coordinate layout and setup for material flow areas, particularly in support of upcoming assembly department relocations.
- Design efficient inbound and outbound logistics models, including engineered dock-to-point-of-use delivery systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- Internship or practical experience in a manufacturing or logistics environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on mindset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Working knowledge of SAP, AutoCAD, and Power BI is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Python or similar data analysis tools is a plus.
