Position Overview

StaffHero is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Nurse (USRN) with an active Massachusetts Registered Nurse license to support clinical quality review, documentation auditing, compliance monitoring, and quality improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate possesses strong clinical knowledge, exceptional attention to detail, and experience reviewing medical records, healthcare documentation, and quality assurance processes. This role is fully remote and requires the ability to work independently while collaborating with clinical and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality assurance audits of medical records, clinical documentation, and healthcare processes.
  • Review patient records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established clinical and regulatory standards.
  • Identify documentation deficiencies, compliance risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor quality metrics and prepare audit findings, reports, and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with client requirements, healthcare regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams and leadership to implement corrective actions and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support internal and external audits, accreditation activities, and compliance reviews.
  • Maintain accurate records of quality reviews, audit outcomes, and corrective action plans.
  • Stay current with healthcare regulations, payer requirements, and industry best practices.

Qualifications

Required

  • Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Experience in quality assurance, quality management, utilization review, clinical auditing, case management, or healthcare compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience reviewing medical records and conducting chart audits.
  • Excellent analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Preferred

  • Additional active US state nursing licenses.
  • Experience in managed care, value-based care, home health, hospital quality management, or healthcare operations.
  • Familiarity with CMS, HIPAA, Joint Commission, NCQA, and other healthcare quality standards.
  • Certification in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Case Management (CCM), or related specialty.
  • Experience supporting healthcare audits, compliance programs, or quality improvement initiatives.
