Position summary: We are seeking an exemplary Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our patient-focused Internal Medicine practice. This full-time position offers a weekday schedule with dedicated time for patient-centered care. As an NP at our clinic, you will have the opportunity to serve a diverse patient population, eliminate health disparities, and make a meaningful impact on patients' lives in beautiful Columbia, North Carolina.
What our providers do
- Maintain collegial relationships with supervising MD
- Providing primary care to patients
- Recording patient medical histories
- Perform initial examinations, including physical exams and patient observations
- Set up and monitor medical equipment
- Order and administer diagnostic tests
- Communicate test results to patients and their families
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment
- Instruct patients and their families about best practices at home
- Refer patients to specialists as needed
- Work with Physicians to prescribe and administer treatments
- Required to be on call after hours
Qualifications
- Current NP license in North Carolina
- Master's or doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited program
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in Internal Medicine
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Has a DEA Licence and is able to prescribe medication
- Enrolled with Medicare through PECOS ( has an NPI number)
- Enrolled with Medicaid through NCTRACKS ( and is able to prescribe medication to Medicaid patients
- CPR or BLS certfied
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of current medical theory, regulations and practices to give and evaluate patient care
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/ maintain a safe work environment
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Ability to work effectively with all practice departments to ensure excellent patient care
- Ability to maintain quality control standards
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Strong understanding of the needs of rural and underserved communities
- Athena Health EHR knowledge a plus but not required
