Senior Corporate Lawyer

The role:
The Senior Corporate Lawyer will play a key role in supporting the Business's continued growth by providing high-quality independent legal advice. With an increased demand across divisions and services, the position will focus on ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks, including new laws across financial services, insurance and privacy regulations, and assisting with the implementation of these legal requirements. Additionally, the Senior Corporate Lawyer will engage with key stakeholders to ensure the legal work aligns with strategic objectives and offer commercial solutions to business challenges.
Responsibilities:
Independently manage legal transactions from start to finish, including internal and external stakeholder relationships
Advise on commercial and corporate matters, including Corporations Law and financial services regulation
Review and draft contracts for procurement, outsourcing, and white-label agreements
Guide strategic commercial negotiations to achieve sustainable outcomes and mitigate risks
Identify legal risks with the Business and recommend appropriate actions
Build trust with key stakeholders and foster strong internal relationships
Collaborate within the Legal Team to maintain a positive, high-performance culture
What experience you’ll bring:
Bachelor of Laws degree
Minimum 8 years PAE (either in-house, private practice or equivalent commercial legal experience)
Current QLD Practising Certificate
Strong knowledge and experience of commercial contracts (including transactional work relating to Claims and Assessing) is essential
Knowledge of insurance and financial services regulations, ASIC, APRA standards, GICOP is essential
Knowledge of dispute resolution / litigation is encouraged
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Expertise in complex multi-party contracts, outsourcing, white-label distribution, procurement, privacy/data protection law, and litigation is beneficial
Toowong or Kawana
This role is available at either our Brisbane and Sunshine Coast locations providing flexibility to choose the office that suits you. Our Toowong office is close to the city with easy public transport and parking options. If you love a view of the water, why not consider our Kawana office on the edge of Lake Kawana and only a five minute drive to the closest beach.
