Ideally, you will be a 1- 3 PQE lawyer with a keen interest in litigation. We appreciate you may not have a background in litigation, but you should have a strong preference for litigation, the motivation to learn about personal injury litigation, and a keen desire to work in a friendly team environment.  The work is demanding but never dull. The firm is processing thousands of current personal injury claims, and every day poses a new challenge. Key duties and responsibilities Provision of legal advice and matter management within the requirements of our client’s engagement, relevant professional conduct rules and other Statutory requirements, assist our personal injury team in providing legal services to plaintiffs and their families, in dealing with the court, medical and expert witnesses, treating medical service providers, and insurance companies in a focused team environment; will accept, comprehend and carry out promptly tasks and instructions from team members in accordance with our Work Plans; understand and follow team reporting and follow-up procedures to ensure your allocated Work Plan tasks are carried out and followed up until completion; show initiative in providing feedback on ongoing development of Work Plans and our Review procedures; participate in and contribute to conferences and meetings with plaintiffs, expert witnesses and Counsel; Professional Development Participating in relevant internal or external continuing professional programs and workshops; Attending and participating in personal injury team meetings and wider firm team meetings.  Administration and practice management maintaining electronic time sheets of all work done on an ongoing basis in real-time; Ensuring electronic files are up to date and matters in files are properly saved within the Affinity system, and renamed according to our file naming protocols; under supervision, monitor the payment of disbursements and manage databases of disbursements paid and outstanding. Arrange and facilitate video conferences. Other Undertake any other duties as required by the supervising partner and Head of Class-Action.  About you To be considered for this opportunity, you will need: A completed Law degree. Admission to practice as a solicitor in New South Wales or near Admission. High motivation for a career in Litigation Law. An interest in, or a willingness to learn about and work within, a Personal injury practice and to develop a passion for Personal injury litigation.  1-2 years post-admission legal practice experience. Consideration will also be given to an applicant without any post-admission legal practice experience, but who possesses some workplace experience, and has the requisite skills and potential. A willingness to put in a full day’s work and pride in day’s work well done. A positive attitude toward dealing with clients, and a motivation to engage with  clients diligently and patiently. An ability to accept supervision and to work constructively and resiliently under supervision.  Skills & Abilities Well-developed cognitive and analytical capability and the ability to apply such skills to personal injury litigation work. Capacity and the focus to manage your work time, to prioritise tasks, and to see them through to completion. Ability to work closely and comfortably with other team members, and contribute to the development and growth of the Personal injury practice and the advancement of GMP Lawyers. Above average communication and organisational skills and a willingness to grow them. Motivation to plan, organise and implement work schedules. Ability to build positive relationships within a team environment and at all levels of the larger firm environment.  Contribution to the promotion and development of existing and of new cases within the Personal Injury Group; Flexibility, and the capacity to confront and to find alternate workarounds and solutions to problems, especially in a team situation.
