Job Description:
Platinum Pacific Partners is partnering with a leading venture capital firm who seek a Financial Accountant to support and strengthen its specialist finance function. This role is central to ensuring operational excellence across a growing portfolio of entities and fund structures. You’ll work closely with the finance team to manage month-end close, tax compliance, payroll processes, and audit preparation—all within the dynamic and fast-paced world of venture investing. This is a full-time role based in Sydney, with the flexibility to work remotely part of the week. Key Responsibilities Month-End Close: Prepare journals, reconciliations, and monthly reporting across management entities Tax Compliance: Prepare and lodge BAS, FBT, and payroll tax returns Audit Support: Assist with annual audits and financial statement preparation Sustainability Reporting: Lead annual office emissions reporting with the internal impact team Team Support: Mentor junior finance staff and contribute to a culture of excellence Process Improvement: Help roll out new systems and drive automation About You You bring hands-on experience from either public practice or an in-house finance team. You’re confident managing recurring financial processes, compliance obligations, and cross-entity accounting. Your approach is detail-driven, process-minded, and proactive. You’re comfortable working in a high-performance culture that values transparency, integrity, and continuous improvement. Key Qualifications & Skills Technical knowledge: Strong grasp of accounting principles (Australian Accounting Standards), GST, FBT, and income tax. CA or CPA qualified. Fund structure familiarity: Exposure to investment management, fund accounting, or experience working with multi-entity structures is highly regarded. Analytical mindset: Capable of producing accurate reconciliations and variance analysis to inform key financial decisions. Process ownership: You thrive in owning recurring workflows and are always looking to streamline and improve them. Systems savvy: Comfortable identifying and implementing tech solutions to improve financial operations. Detail-oriented: You pride yourself on accuracy and have strong self-review habits. Team-first mentality: Willing to roll up your sleeves and assist wherever needed. Humble, collaborative, and empathetic. Stakeholder sensitivity: Clear communicator with the ability to interact across founders, portfolio teams, investors, and internal stakeholders.
