Financial/Management Accountant THE ORGANISATION Proudly Australian owned and operated, Symbio Laboratories is a leading provider of commercial analytical testing services to the food, agricultural, water, environmental and pharmaceutical industries. With laboratories in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Wagga Wagga, Symbio performs important technical analysis on thousands of samples from the food we eat, to the water we drink.    ABOUT THE ROLE Symbio is an exponential growth company seeking to hire a  Management Accountant , with the intention to develop this individual into a Finance Manager role.  This position will be based at our Head Office in the Brisbane Technology Park at Eight Mile Plains. While the immediate requirement is for a hands-on Company Accountant, this is an exciting opportunity for an analytical and dynamic professional with a passion for continuous improvement and a desire to grow with a fast-paced and expanding organisation.  Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the role will also support and guide the finance team on strategic matters relating to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting, statutory obligations and corporate policies and procedures. Further responsibilities of the Management Accountant may include:  Manage Business reporting activities, including Corporate and Departmental Profit and Loss Statements, and Balance Sheet and Cash Flow reports.  Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements and other statutory reporting requirements, and monthly IAS and BAS statements in accordance with ATO requirements. Assist and manage reports to funding agencies, as well as development and monitoring of departmental and contract/grant budgets. Assist with the development of annual operating budgets. Oversee and analyse purchasing/cost activities, provide data for supporting managerial decisions, and identify anomalies. Oversee payroll activity/accounting for staff and contractor payment processes. Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, and ensure a disaster recovery plan is in place.  Assist in corporate business insurance plans. Ensure adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all purchases may pass independent and ATO audits. Oversee the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets, assuring all are in accordance with ATO regulations. Assist with annual audit coordination and management. Monitor banking activities and ensure adequate cash flow to meet corporate needs. Manage end of month reporting and reporting consolidations. Work with the business to continuously improve reporting and accounting system requirements.   To be successful in this role , you will need the following skills and experience: Tertiary qualification,  Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar role, High level of attention to detail, Strong communication and problem-solving skills, Organisational and time management skills, Good computer skills, including Excel and Business Intelligence Tools, Be solutions-focused, Experience in MYOB EXO would be advantage but is not mandatory.   We're proud of the contributions and ideas our staff bring to the business, and welcome your application.
