The Opportunity The Finance Manager is responsible for leading all finance functions at Yiliyapinya Indigenous Corporation, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, budgeting, financial reporting, and audit support. In this role, you’ll oversee the development and implementation of finance systems and processes to strengthen financial monitoring, accountability, and organisational performance. You’ll also work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective financial management, compliance, and reporting. As a key member of our leadership team, you’ll play an important role in supporting our long-term sustainability and growth through accurate, timely, and transparent financial oversight. Key Responsibilities Prepare monthly and quarterly financial and management reports. Assist with annual accounts, audits, and statutory reporting requirements. Manage day-to-day financial operations including data entry, account reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll. Complete tax returns and ensure compliance with all financial regulations. Prepare and manage annual budgets for all projects, including cashflow forecasting and variance analysis. Support proposal and grant submissions through accurate costing and pricing. Provide financial insights and analytical support to inform decision-making for management and the board. Develop, implement, and monitor financial systems, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance, efficiency, and risk management. Build positive relationships with stakeholders (e.g. suppliers) to support clear communication and timely issue resolution. Support staff in using finance systems, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting tools. Manage relationships with external finance providers including banks, auditors, and accountants. Perform other financial tasks as required to support the organisation’s goals. About You You are a qualified finance professional (CPA or CA) committed to ongoing professional development. You have strong financial management, analytical, and numerical skills. You are experienced in managing the financial operations of small-to-medium not-for-profit organisations, including audits, financial statements, tax, and statutory compliance. You’re proficient in Xero and Excel, with the ability to manage budgeting, reporting, and forecasting processes. You have excellent communication skills and can collaborate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You are highly organised, self-motivated, and able to manage competing priorities independently. You demonstrate cultural competency and work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
