Job Description:
We are seeking a professional and highly organised Medical Secretary to join our busy and dynamic team at Sydney Gut Clinic. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our practice, providing excellent administrative support to our medical professionals and delivering outstanding service to our patients. Key Responsibilities: Manage patient appointments, scheduling, and follow-ups Handle phone inquiries and respond to patient queries in a friendly, efficient manner Prepare and maintain accurate patient records, ensuring confidentiality at all times Process patient referrals and liaise with specialists, hospitals, and other healthcare providers Organise and manage medical documentation, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations Process medical billing, including Medicare and private health insurance claims Coordinate patient communications, including reminders, test results, and appointments Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails, phone calls, and mail Perform general office administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, and maintaining office supplies Provide support to medical staff and assist with other tasks as required by management Essential Skills and Qualifications: Proven experience as a Medical Secretary, Medical Administrator, or in a similar role within a medical setting Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and medical software systems (experience with Best Practice is preferred) Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures Familiarity with Medicare, DVA, and private health insurance billing processes Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information A friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team Desirable Skills: Previous experience in a specialist medical practice or hospital environment Familiarity with Best Practice or other medical practice management software Why Join Us?
