The Role The Contract Officer provides critical contract support to the C-27J Spartan, C-130J Hercules and Propulsions platforms. The role is responsible for conducting a wide range of commercial support functions, including the service delivery of contract documentation associated with contract change proposals, export controls, technical data and intellectual property, and governance and assurance activities. You will be responsible for: Assisting with procurement planning, contract formation and contract management activities, ensuring compliance with legislation, procurement policies, processes and procedures. Drafting and delivering procurement and contracting documentation including templates, correspondence, reports, submissions, contract change proposals and other procurement and contract management documentation. Reviewing contracted services and documentation to ensure and verify correct charges and payments are applied. Analysing and evaluating cost estimates in the development of contractual artefacts including price variation submissions. Providing advice in relation to procurement, contracting, financial and administrative policies with a strong emphasis on compliance, governance and assurance. This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. Our Ideal Candidate As part of a dedicated team providing services to the acquisition, transition and sustainment of the Air Lift and Training Systems capabilities, we are looking for someone with strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to respond appropriately to pressures and changing priorities, you will be able to demonstrate: Strong written and oral communication skills, including report writing. Excellent communication skills and relationship management skills. The ability to influence, negotiate and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. An understanding of financial, costing and/or budgeting. A strong work ethic and a commitment to teamwork. Excellent organisation and time management with the ability to meet deadlines. Knowledge and experience in procurement and contracting systems. The ability to respond flexibly to changing situations, including using sound judgement under pressure.
