Elite Dental Assistant
Job Description:
Are you the best at what you do? We are looking only for top-quality dental assistants. If you like to put your feet up and have a cup of tea, catch up on gossip around the autoclave, or take your time when wiping down and resetting a surgery, then this is not the job for you! If you are too timid to chat to patients, or can't become confident talking a patient through the basics of dental treatment and post-op instructions, then things won't work out for you at the practice. If, on the other hand, you are looking for the next step in developing your dental nursing career, love interacting with patients, would like more responsibilities in the clinic, and have great organisational and time-management skills, then this role might be just what you're looking for. Dental SOS is a new after-hours emergency service dealing with all kinds of acute dental issues and problems. We aim to diagnose and treat patients' dental emergency in a single visit, as efficiently and professionally as possible. The Role You will have responsibilities in all the usual areas: Greeting patients and putting them at ease in the dental chair Cleaning and preparing the surgery Chairside assisting for a broad range of emergency procedures Cross-infection management Sterilisation and instrument management However, we will expect you to go above and beyond, as the practice relies on the nursing staff to run efficiently. You will be the main point of contact for the patient, responsible for; welcoming them to the practice, checking the medical history and initial emergency consultation (we will train you for this), keeping the patient comfortable in the surgery, managing payment of fees, ensuring notes are completed (though not writing them), and ensuring that all of the paperwork (consent, post-op etc) is complete, for every patient. Additionally, if you have a Certificate IV in assisting and are qualified in intra-oral radiography this is an advantage, as this will save the dentist time in managing each patient. So, we'll pay you way above the average hourly rate, and you will certainly be pushed outside your comfort zone of simply scrubbing instruments and holding a suction tip. Night Owls Only - After-Hours Clinic! This job won't suit everyone, as we need you to work unsociable hours: When running at full capacity the emergency clinic will run from 6pm-midnight, 7 days per week. This will only suit those who thrive in the evenings, and isn't at all the right fit if you're winding down for bedtime at 8pm. We need you alert, motivated, and full of beans well into the night. It might suit those who need to fit their work schedule around a partner who works during the day, or around childcare, or other responsibilities. To compensate further for the anti-social work schedule, we offer an extra $10 per hour for any work after 10pm during the week, and all hours at the weekend. However, to repeat, we are only looking for the best nurses around, and you must be prepared to commit to a minimum of 2 shifts per week, every week. 3 or 4 shifts is preferable, and 5 is the maximum as we don't want you to burn out! Apply Now! If the idea of an exciting move into the high-paced, high-stress, but ultimately hugely rewarding arena of private emergency dental treatment sounds like something that meets your career goals, and could fit into your work/life balance and schedule, then please get in touch to organise an interview. We are looking to interview all candidates by early July, ready to make job offer/s and schedule a training day in mid-July, before you would commence work towards the end of the month.
