Paralegal/Legal Assistant
Job Description:
An outstanding opportunity presents itself for a mature, experienced and focussed person to provide paralegal and legal assistant services in this Fremantle based law firm specialising in property and commercial law. Salary: $65,000 to $85,000 per annum plus superannuation depending on experience Your responsibilities This very busy position involves but is not limited to, the following tasks: draft Landgate and other legal documents under the supervision of a Principal of the firm; undertake and prepare for PEXA and paper settlements and lodge other documents as required on PEXA; undertake self assessment and lodge documents for assessment of duty on the Office of State Revenue’s online platform; maintain client trust accounts and controlled money accounts including entering transactions, reconciling, compliance, reporting and audit; maintain lawyers' CPD points records, registrations and ensure compliance with CPD requirements; undertake monthly billing including liaising with Principals and clients; liaison with the Firm's accountants, IT consultants, equipment and stationery suppliers as needed; all other office duties associated with working in a small office, including providing back-up secretarial and general administration assistance as required such as document amendment and formatting, drafting letters and emails, filing, file management, liaising with clients and other professionals and maintaining general account transactions. About you Ideally, you will have: prior experience as a paralegal with a property focus; a strong working knowledge of PEXA; strong written and verbal communication skills; strong solicitor trust accounting skills; the ability to utilize a document management system preferably Filepro; excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, show initiative and be self-motivated; sound secretarial skills; strong attention to detail; flexible approach to tasks and a ‘can do’ attitude. Full time with daily hours of 9am – 5:00pm are anticipated but part time hours are open for discussion depending on your skills and individual circumstances.
