We’re implementing a new payroll system and reshaping how we deliver payroll services across the school. As our next Payroll Manager, you won’t just be maintaining the status quo; you’ll be leading the charge to modernise, streamline, and elevate our payroll operations. If you're a hands-on leader with deep technical expertise, a sharp eye for detail, and a passion for improving systems, this is your moment. This is a critical role reporting to the Head of Finance, responsible for the full end-to-end payroll function and managing one Payroll Specialist. Your leadership will be key to building confidence in payroll and delivering high-quality service during a time of change. Key Responsibilities: Process fortnightly/monthly payroll for a diverse employee base across multiple industrial awards and agreements Ensure compliance with PAYG, STP, superannuation, and Fair Work obligations Lead and support system upgrades, testing, implementation, and documentation Collaborate with HR on onboarding, changes, and offboarding Drive reconciliation, budgeting, forecasting, and leave accrual accuracy Provide reporting and data for audits, surveys, and the annual Census Mentor the Payroll Specialist through system change and team development We’re open to candidates from all industries; what matters is your experience navigating complexity and multiple industrial instruments. You bring: 10+ years’ experience in payroll, with a proven record of solving problems and improving systems Expertise working with multiple awards or EBAs High technical capability and confidence in systems, compliance, and calculations Strong people and communication skills Experience with Affinity or Synergetic (ideal but not essential) A calm, proactive approach and strong attention to detail A commitment to values, professionalism, and service Benefits for you: Hybrid work environment A collaborative, professional, and mission-driven team.
