Senior Payroll Officer

 Job Description:

The Senior Payroll Officer plays a critical role in the end-to-end processing of payroll for approximately 1,400 employees across multiple enterprise agreements and employment types within a not-for-profit setting. Proficiency in Chris21 is essential. This role is likely to be hired as an ongoing agency temp (original proposed contract length 3 to 6 months) with the strong likelihood of permanency later down the line if the fit is right. Key Responsibilities End-to-end payroll processing on a fortnightly basis for approximately 1,400 staff Interpret and apply multiple Awards, EBAs, and individual contracts Maintain employee records, leave balances, salary packaging, and deductions in Chris21 Calculate and process new starters, terminations, redundancies, and back pays Reconcile payroll reports and general ledger accounts Manage payroll tax, superannuation, PAYG, and other statutory obligations Respond to internal payroll enquiries in a timely and professional manner Skills & Experience Required Minimum 5 years' experience in end-to-end payroll processing in medium to large organisations Demonstrated experience with Chris21 (essential) Experience interpreting EBAs and Awards in a complex environment Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage confidential information appropriately Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
