We’re looking for a commercially-minded, hands-on Financial Controller to join our team in a pivotal leadership role during a period of significant growth and transformation. About the role: As Financial Controller, you’ll work closely with the Managing Director and leadership team to shape and drive Valen’s financial strategy and operations. This is a high-impact role that blends strategic insight with hands-on execution and team leadership. You’ll be responsible for: Partnering with the Managing Director to influence commercial decisions, pricing models, and capital investments. Leading monthly close, consolidation, reporting, and internal controls to ensure financial accuracy and transparency. Overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis processes in collaboration with department heads. Managing treasury operations, cash flow forecasting, insurance coverage, and business risk frameworks. Driving continuous improvement in financial systems (especially NetSuite and Power BI), reporting cycles, and analytics. Engaging confidently with external auditors, tax advisors, and presenting financial insights to the Leadership Team and Board. Coaching and developing team members and contributing to a culture of accountability, performance, and collaboration. What you bring: CA or CPA qualification, with strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax compliance. At least 10 years’ experience in finance, with 5+ years in senior finance roles. Proven success as a Financial Controller in a manufacturing, engineering, or utilities-related business. Proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred) and business intelligence tools (Power BI). Commercial acumen with a hands-on leadership style—you’re just as comfortable in board meetings as you are building reports or reviewing cost drivers.
