Job Description:
The Australian Energy Council (the Energy Council) is the industry body representing electricity and downstream natural gas businesses operating in the competitive wholesale and retail energy markets. These businesses collectively generate the majority of electricity in Australia for over 10 million homes and businesses and are central to Australia’s energy transition. Our focus is on that transition. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Energy Council’s Corporate Affairs team in Melbourne as an Events Coordinator. This is a part-time, three-day-per-week role initially offered on a one-year fixed-term contract. The Energy Council is looking to enhance its events offering, shifting focus from smaller member-only events to broader events and conferences targeted towards external stakeholders. The successful candidate will work with the General Manager Corporate Affairs to develop an end-to-end process to enable the Energy Council to offer events, from operational functionality to event delivery. Core responsibilities include the development of processes and procedures to offer events to external stakeholders, management of external service providers, leading delivery of external events, and working with Communications and Media teams to market and advertise events. The role reports to the General Manager Corporate Affairs. What we are looking for: Proven experience in a hands-on role delivering events. Proficiency in events management software. Experience in project management and end-to-end event management. Demonstrated experience managing event budgets. Excellent communication for with experience working with internal and external vendors and stakeholders. Key responsibilities are: Process development: Develop internal processes and procedures to support the successful delivery of member and stakeholder events. Event Production: Manage logistics, including venue coordination, AV teams, and vendor management. Project Management: Develop and implement project plans, including timelines, key milestones, and deliverables to ensure events run smoothly. Speaker Management: Work with broader AEC team to develop agendas and coordinate speakers. End-to-end Management of Events: Responsible for planning, executing and managing all aspects from start to finish. Agency Collaboration: Work closely with external agencies where utilised to ensure smooth execution. Desirable attributes for the position: Qualifications in events management or comparable experience. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills. A proven track record in developing and delivering projects on time and on budget. An understanding of event delivery tools and software, and the financial management of event delivery.
