Position Overview

The Medical Director will serve as the clinical leader for our psychiatric hospital, overseeing the delivery of high-quality inpatient psychiatric care. This individual will provide direct psychiatric services, supervise clinical staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and guide program development aligned with ASAM 4.0 standards.

This is a full-time, on-site leadership role in Richmond Heights, Ohio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and individualized treatment planning for patients with acute psychiatric conditions.
  • Oversee and coordinate medical and psychiatric care across the hospital, ensuring alignment with ASAM 4.0 standards.
  • Lead and supervise the medical team, including psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and other prescribing clinicians.
  • Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and case management teams to ensure integrated, patient-centered care.
  • Establish and monitor clinical protocols, quality improvement initiatives, and outcome measures.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards (JCAHO, CMS, ASAM, etc.).
  • Participate in staffing, recruitment, credentialing, and professional development of clinical staff.
  • Act as liaison with community providers, referral partners, and regulatory bodies.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and hospital leadership decisions.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree; Board Certified in Psychiatry.
  • Current, unrestricted Ohio medical license.
  • Minimum 35 years of clinical leadership or supervisory experience in a psychiatric inpatient or hospital setting.
  • Experience with high-acuity psychiatric populations; co-occurring and addiction medicine experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of ASAM criteria, regulatory compliance, and behavioral health best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fellowship training in Addiction Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine.
  • Experience directing inpatient psychiatric or dual-diagnosis programs.
  • Demonstrated track record of clinical innovation and quality improvement.
