Role Overview
The Lead Engineer will play a pivotal role in delivering high-impact, sustainable energy and climate-related projects. This position requires strong technical expertise combined with leadership skills to oversee the engineering team and ensure the successful implementation of projects aligned with green economy objectives. The Lead Engineer will bridge technical solutions with financial and operational considerations, ensuring compliance with international standards and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership
- Oversee and coordinate the work of engineering teams across multiple projects.
- Provide expert guidance on sustainable energy, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and resource efficiency measures.
- Ensure engineering solutions meet performance criteria and comply with national regulations and related EBRD policies.
- Project Delivery
- Translate complex engineering measures into financial terms for project stakeholders.
- Support development of investment plans, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.
- Conduct and review technical due diligence, feasibility studies, and audits for industrial and building-level projects.
- Innovation & Best Practices
- Research and apply EU Best Available Techniques (BAT/BREF) and global best practices.
- Contribute to the development of tools, templates, and methodologies for project origination and assessment.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with financial institutions, vendors, and clients to support project origination and implementation.
- Deliver technical presentations and capacity-building sessions for stakeholders.
- Quality Assurance
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and operational guidelines.
- Validate technical eligibility of projects and oversee verification processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Master's degree in Sustainable Energy, Climate Change, or Circular Economy is a plus.
- Minimum 15 years of international project experience, including team leadership.
- Proven track record in sustainable energy projects and resource efficiency audits.
- Experience in explaining technical measures in financial terms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Turkish (written and spoken).
- Familiarity with EU and Turkish regulations on energy performance and environmental standards.
