About the job Health and Safety Engineer

A health and safety engineer in the construction of sewerage network project is responsible for ensuring the safety of workers, equipment, and the environment during the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of sewerage systems.

Some of the duties and responsibilities of this engineer are:

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments for the sewer network construction project, considering potential hazards related to the environment, equipment, materials, and work processes.
  • Review the risk mitigation strategies to minimize potential accidents and health risks.
  • Review plans and specifications for sewer/stormwater networks and identify potential hazards and risks.
  • Oversee emergency response plans in case of incidents such as chemical spills, equipment failures, or accidents.
  • Coordinate with relevant authorities for emergency services when needed.
  • Good knowledge of all safety and engineering standards mentioned in DM and RTA manuals.
  • Good knowledge in preparing and managing traffic diversions schemes
    at work zones.


He must have the following qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, preferably in civil, environmental, or health and safety engineering with ten (10) years of experience in the field of safety of networks construction.
