About the job Real Estate Finance Associate / Senior Associate | 4-9 Years PQE | Major Law Firm | HKG

WHO

Our client is a leading regional law firm with a top-ranked commercial real estate finance practice, advising banks, financial institutions, private credit lenders, real estate investment funds, developers, REITs and institutional investors on some of the most high profile real estate transactions in Hong Kong, the PRC and other common law jurisdictions. The firm invests heavily in its people with structured training and a collaborative, tight-knit team culture, and offers a generous annual leave entitlement alongside family medical cover.

WHAT

Working closely with the partners who lead the real estate finance team, with exposure to the corporate team's real estate M&A work, you will advise on high-value commercial real estate financings, including large-scale acquisition and development loans, cross-border financings, private credit and structured lending, and restructuring financings. Day to day you will draft, review and negotiate finance documents, lead Conditions Precedent (CP) signing and drawdowns through to completion, and manage execution across multiple workstreams alongside lenders, sponsors and borrowers, offshore and local counsel. There is also scope to advise on real estate corporate transactions, including acquisitions and disposals of holding companies and assets and the formation of joint ventures for real estate investment, while building client relationships, contributing to business development and client seminars, and supervising and mentoring trainees and junior team members.

YOU

You will be Hong Kong qualified with at least 4 years' post-qualification experience in banking and/or real estate finance; more senior candidates are very welcome to apply. Strong experience in secured lending, acquisition finance, project finance or commercial real estate finance will be prioritised, while exposure to property M&A, real estate joint ventures or private credit is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.

Excellent spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua), confident drafting and negotiation skills, and the commercial judgement to work directly with sophisticated lenders, sponsors and institutional investors are essential. A collaborative, self-motivated and detail-oriented approach and the drive to build a long-term career on market-leading transactions will see you thrive.
