About the Role
Our client, a leading player in the defence and engineering sector, is seeking an Assistant Export Control Manager to support and drive the governance of defence exports and technology policies. Reporting to the Lead, Risk & Governance, you will ensure compliance with the Singapore Customs Act, the Strategic Goods (Control) Act, and other international export control requirements. This role involves evaluating exported/imported systems and technologies, collaborating with internal stakeholders and external agencies, and ensuring adherence to all export control legislation.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and monitor import/export policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Singapore Customs Act and U.S. Export Control Regulations.

Provide support and address queries related to end-user undertakings.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local and international trade laws, export controls, and customs regulations.

Advise internal stakeholders on regulatory changes, provisos, and license conditions for export activities, visitor clearances, and international exhibitions.

Develop and implement best practices for oversight and documentation of export-controlled items.

Prepare accurate, regulation-compliant import/export documentation and maintain records for audits and inspections.

Plan, organize, and support export compliance training and awareness initiatives.
Requirements

Minimum 5 years of experience in governance and export controls.

Strong knowledge of the Singapore Strategic Goods (Control) Act.

Familiarity with U.S. Export Control Regulations (ITAR, EAR, etc.) is an advantage.

Experience in defence, military, or other highly regulated technology industries preferred.

Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation abilities.

Strong analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.

Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
