Senior Position (Not entitled to overtime)
Role Purpose
The Drilling Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of offshore drilling, completion, and workover operations. The role provides on-site leadership for all well operations, ensuring compliance with company procedures, HSE standards, drilling programs, and operational objectives while coordinating logistics, contractors, and service providers.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
Supervise day-to-day drilling, completion, and workover activities at the rig site.
Ensure operations are executed in accordance with approved drilling programs, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
Monitor drilling performance and recommend operational improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce non-productive time.
Coordinate rig moves, rig positioning activities, and associated risk assessments.
Manage logistics, including planning, ordering, transportation, storage, and backloading of equipment and materials.
HSE & Risk Management
Ensure full compliance with Company HSE policies, procedures, and ADNOC Codes of Practice.
Conduct and review Job Safety Analyses (JSA), risk assessments, and mitigation plans.
Lead emergency response activities and act as On-Scene Commander when required.
Organize and participate in emergency drills and safety exercises.
Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented.
Contractor & Service Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for drilling contractors and service companies at the rig site.
Coordinate required services, equipment, and resources to support operational activities.
Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
Reporting & Documentation
Prepare and submit Daily Drilling Reports (DDR), progress reports, and operational updates.
Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, material transfers, safety meetings, and lessons learned.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of operational performance, costs, incidents, and inventory status.
Equipment & Asset Management
Conduct regular inspections of rig equipment and third-party assets.
Monitor inventory levels of equipment, materials, supplies, and spare parts.
Ensure proper maintenance and safe return of surplus materials and equipment to company stores.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related Engineering discipline.
Certifications
Valid IWCF Level 4 Certification or equivalent.
Experience
Minimum 7 years of experience in oil and gas drilling operations.
At least 3 years of offshore drilling experience in a supervisory role.
Experience in drilling, completion, and workover operations.
Knowledge of EDM (Open Wells) software is preferred.
