Job Objective:
Supervise and coordinate the activities of workforce engaged in welding of vehicle components in accordance to the specified processes and the required output. Ensure the components are welded within the established timeframes and adhere to product quality standards.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:
Managerial Role:
- Manage a team or direct and indirect reports within the function.
Organizational Role:
- Adhere to the approved department structure.
Key Authorities:
- Financial: Applicable for Grade G6 & above only, refer to NIMR Automotive DOA version 1/2014
- Non-Financial: For all Grades 7 to 14, as per position scope
- OHSE: As per the Roles & Responsibilities Matrix # F-HR-043.
Functional Role:
- Adhere to OHSE legislations, standards and the Organization Policy's & Procedures
- Assigns welding foremen to welding sections and reviews their work/reports.
- Monitors the work of welding foremen and welders and ensures that the quality is up to the expected standards.
- Supports the Fabrication Manager in development of procedures and guidelines for Welding unit.
- Coordinates with other Production units to ensure that the welding process is done as per the production plan. Ensures compliance with safety procedures and quality standards.
- Maintains equipment tools and fixtures in a safe working order and visually checks serviceability prior to commencing the work.
- Maintains and updates welder qualification records, Weld Map, Inspection and Test Plan etc.
- Maintains and controls inventory and issues welding related consumables.
- Identifies the appropriate Welding Procedure Specifications and assigns welders as per welder qualifications.
- Works towards improving operating efficiency, reducing costs, identifying unfavorable trends and taking corrective action as required.
- Develops and submits regular reports on production status.
- Identifies and arranges for need based training inputs for subordinates.
- Ensures that the daily production schedules are met while meeting safety, cost and quality objectives.
- Works within the limits of authority as defined by the line manager.

Preferred Minimum Qualifications:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- 5 years of which 2-3 years of supervisory experience in Automotive / Armor vehicle welding shop floor.
- Excellent Communication Skills(verbal and written) in English
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in fabrication production in automotive /armor vehicle sector.
- Experience is Fabrication of armored steel such as Weldox and Armox
- Familiarity with a variety of welding concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to understand welding symbols and diagrams, read blueprints, and/or other printed instructional material in the welding of products or parts.
- Must be thoroughly familiar with welding equipment such as torches, torch tips, filler rods, flux, hoses, valves, and gas cylinders.
- Knowledge of welding techniques, tools and machines.
- Required to interact and liaise with all sections within Production department.
Operating Environment:
- Must be able to deal with work related deadlines, accountabilities and responsibilities.
- Must be able to work under frequent job pressure generated by short deadlines.
- Must be able to work independently and under time constraints.
