Role Purpose

Ensure timeous delivery of critical materials, spares, and services required for mining and processing operations. Actively track, follow up, and expedite purchase orders to prevent delays, downtime, and production losses

Key Responsibilities

Order Expediting & Tracking

  • Track and monitor purchase orders from placement to site delivery
  • Expedite critical and long‑lead items in line with maintenance and production schedules
  • Follow up with suppliers on manufacturing, packing, dispatch, and delivery status
  • Escalate delays or risks to procurement and operations promptly

Supplier & Logistics Coordination

  • Liaise with suppliers, OEMs, freight forwarders, and transporters
  • Confirm delivery dates, shipping documentation, and logistics arrangements
  • Coordinate customs, transport, and site delivery requirements (where applicable)
  • Resolve delivery discrepancies, shortages, or damaged goods

Operational Support

  • Prioritise expediting based on production risk, shutdowns, and critical equipment needs
  • Support maintenance planners and engineers by ensuring material availability
  • Assist with emergency and breakdown procurement expediting
  • Provide alternative sourcing or delivery solutions when delays occur

Documentation & Systems

  • Update ERP / procurement systems with order status and delivery updates
  • Maintain accurate expediting logs and communication records
  • Support invoice matching and Goods Received Note (GRN) resolution
  • Ensure documentation aligns with procurement and audit requirements

Risk & Delay Management

  • Identify potential supply chain risks early
  • Proactively mitigate risks through supplier engagement and contingency planning
  • Support root cause analysis of recurring supply delays
  • Recommend improvements to procurement and supply processes

Reporting & Communication

  • Provide regular expediting status reports to management and operations
  • Communicate delivery changes or risks clearly and timeously
  • Support shutdown and project reporting requirements

Safety & Compliance

  • Comply with site safety procedures during site visits and materials receiving
  • Ensure suppliers meet mine safety and site access requirements
  • Adhere to ethical procurement and governance standards

Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 / Matric; Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field advantageous
  • 2–4 years' experience in expediting, procurement, or logistics, preferably in mining or heavy industry
  • Experience working with ERP / procurement systems
  • Understanding of engineering spares and operational supply chains

Desirable

  • Experience in zinc or base‑metal mining operations
  • Exposure to shutdown and critical spares management
  • Knowledge of transport, freight, and OEM supply chains
