STELO is looking for experience and motivated Training Coordinators to coordinate the training activities of one of the most ambitious programmes in Africa's mining industry today. 

This training programme will be in Madagascar. 

Job Purpose:

To coordinate the planning, delivery, and evaluation of construction and technical trades training programmes, ensuring alignment with operational needs, safety standards, and workforce development goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Training Programme Coordination:

  • Plan and schedule training sessions across various technical disciplines
    • Construction trades coordination: 
      • (e.g., masonry, carpentry, plumbing, formwork, plastering, roofing,).
    • Operations trades coordination: (Heavy mobile equipment maintenance, electrical, Instrumentation, mechanical fitting, boiler-making & welding).
  • Liaise with trainers, department heads, and operations to match training with site priorities.
  • Ensure all training programmes meet international standards and organisational requirements.
  • Coordinate onboarding and site induction training for workers and subcontractors.

Curriculum & Content Oversight:

  • Oversee development and updating of training materials, SOPs, lesson plans, and assessments.
  • Support customisation of content based on site equipment, procedures, and safety protocols.

Trainer Support & Management:

  • Supervise and support a team of technical trainers and assessors.
  • Monitor training delivery quality and provide coaching where needed.
  • Organise Train-the-Trainer sessions and professional development.
  • Conduct training sessions and VOC.
  • Align training content with project requirements, construction timelines, and workforce skill levels.

Trainer & Resource Coordination:

  • Liaise with internal trainers and external training providers.
  • Ensure the availability of training materials, tools, and PPE for practical sessions.
  • Support trainers with lesson planning, assessments, and feedback collection.

Records & Compliance:

  • Maintain training matrices, competency profiles, and certification records.
  • Maintain accurate records of training sessions, attendance, and individual competencies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and audit requirements (e.g., ISO, internal standards) & local labor laws.
  • Coordinate assessments, recognition of prior learning (RPL), and recertification programs.

Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Track training KPIs: attendance, pass rates, trainee progress, competency completion.
  • Monitor training effectiveness through assessments, observations, and feedback.
  • Generate regular reports for management on training progress, effectiveness, gaps, and recommendations.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Coordinate with HR, HSE, and line managers to align training with onboarding, workforce planning, and compliance.
  • Engage with external training bodies and certification authorities where needed.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Education, Technical/Vocational Training, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical training, including at least 2 years in a coordination or supervisory role.
  • Recognised Trainer & Assessor qualification (e.g., Cert IV TAE, TVET, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of multiple technical trades and safety practices.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.
  • Knowledge of competency-based training systems.
  • Proficiency in training management systems (TMS/LMS), Excel, and reporting tools.
  • Effective communicator and problem solver with a proactive mindset.
  • Professional level in English & French.  Malagasy is a definite asset.

Duration of contract: 3 Years
