GENERAL MANAGER – CONCENTRATOR OPERATIONS

Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer / Corporate Operations

Role Purpose

The General Manager is the senior site leader responsible for the safe, reliable, and profitable operation of the concentrator plant. The role provides strategic and operational leadership across processing, maintenance, engineering, supply chain, and support services to achieve production, cost, and safety targets while ensuring successful transition from project commissioning into stable operational performance.

Key Accountabilities

Operational Leadership

  • Provide overall leadership for concentrator plant operations.
  • Ensure alignment between processing, maintenance, engineering, and supply chain functions.
  • Manage client relationship
  • Achieve throughput, recovery, and plant availability targets.
  • Ensure safe operation across crushing, grinding, flotation, filtration, and tailings systems.
  • Coordinate ramp-up and operational readiness following plant commissioning.

Asset Management & Reliability

  • Ensure effective governance of the Asset Management Plan.
  • Drive reliability improvement initiatives across plant assets.
  • Oversee shutdown planning and execution.
  • Monitor performance of critical equipment including crushers, grinding mills, flotation circuits, thickeners, and tailings systems.
  • Ensure long-term asset integrity and equipment availability.

Safety, Health, Environment & Community

  • Maintain a strong safety culture aligned with the Mine Health and Safety Act.
  • Ensure environmental compliance and responsible plant operations.
  • Oversee tailings management, water use, waste management, and emissions control.
  • Support community engagement and social responsibility commitments.

Financial & Commercial Management

  • Manage operational budgets and cost control initiatives.
  • Monitor operating costs per tonne processed.
  • Oversee maintenance, reagent, and operational expenditure.
  • Support procurement strategy and supplier governance.
  • Contribute to corporate production planning and concentrate delivery commitments.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive plant optimisation initiatives focused on throughput and recovery.
  • Improve energy efficiency and operational performance.
  • Implement digital and automation improvement programmes.
  • Promote continuous improvement culture across the operation.

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead a multidisciplinary leadership team across processing, engineering, maintenance, safety, and supply chain.
  • Develop leadership capability and succession planning.
  • Promote training and workforce development initiatives.
  • Drive performance accountability across operational teams.

Governance & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with mining, environmental, and labour legislation.
  • Oversee internal and external audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate governance standards.
  • Maintain effective regulatory reporting and documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Mechanical Engineering, or Mining Engineering.
  • Postgraduate qualification such as Master of Business Administration or Master of Business Leadership advantageous.

Experience

  • Minimum fifteen years' experience in mining or mineral processing operations.
  • At least eight years in senior operational leadership roles.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale processing plants.
  • Strong background in base metal flotation operations.
  • Experience leading plant ramp-up and operational optimisation programmes.
