About the job Cook
St John's Staff Hire are looking to recruit an enthusiastic cook who is looking to begin a career as a chef. No experience is required for this role, as full training will be provided. You need only be passionate, energetic and willing to learn on the job!
This role is based in Sticklebarn, Great Langdale, and would suit somebody that is happy to live in the wonderfully remote, often wild weathered Lake District. To this end, we can only really consider candidates that are car drivers, and live locally enough to Ambleside that they can reliably commute. However, for the perfect candidate that is looking to settle in the area and progress within the National Trust family, the possibility of accommodation does exist, a help to relocate might be available in the form of sourcing a suitable rented property.
Salary:
- £20,000 per annum, permanent full-time
Hours:
- Working 5 days out of 7, with consecutive days off, and no split shifts
- Example shifts are 8 - 4 pm, 9 - 5 pm or 10 - 6:30 pm
This is an immediate start; interviews will be held by appointment on receiving applications. Please apply, or ring Richard Downes on the following number for more information: 07827 941669.
What to Expect:
Based in the heart of the Langdale, Sticklebarn was the first hydro-powered pub in the UK. The menu revolves around celebrating local produce and the employer places great emphasis on sustainability, for example, working with consulting partners to calculate the carbon footprint of the menu.
The money raised as a National Trust property goes directly into the landscape around the pub, funding conservation projects, protecting wildlife and preserving natural environments for all visitors to enjoy.
What You Will Be Doing:
With your passion for food and your appetite to provide exceptional customer service, you’ll make dishes within the National Trust framework that delivers consistency while championing locally sourced produce. Working alongside the Head Chef and Food & Beverage Manager you'll ensure the menu reflects the seasons, and each dish is fresh, tasty and beautifully presented every time.
You'll strive for a culture of exceptional service and work effectively to deliver great results. You will work collaboratively as part of a team working to achieve financial targets and increase margins by minimising waste, controlling costs and resources.
You’ll be proud to share the valuable work that the National Trust does with their visitors and look to maximise sales with new ideas so that the profit can be reinvested back into the National Trust's conservation work.
