The Mental Health Curriculum Writer (Consultant) will be responsible for the creation and refinement of Tier 1 and Tier 2 mental health lessons for K12 students as part of an 18-month, grant-funded project. This role involves writing and editing detailed lesson guides and developing accompanying PowerPoint presentations that will be digitized and housed on a learning management system (LMS). The ideal candidate is a former school social worker, counselor, or educator with expertise in CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed, culturally responsive practices.

This position is a 20 hour per week, hybrid (onsite every Tuesday) position located in our San Mateo office.

Compensation:

This position pays $50/hour

You Will:

  • Write and revise Tier 2 small group mental health lesson guides for school-based mental health staff and intervention providers
  • Develop Tier 1 universal lesson guides for educators to use in whole-class settings such as advisory, homeroom, or community circle
  • Create engaging, developmentally appropriate PowerPoint presentations that align with each lesson and support facilitators of all experience levels
  • Ensure all content reflects evidence-based practices including CBT, DBT, SEL, and trauma-informed care
  • Collaborate with internal curriculum, clinical, and training teams to align lessons with program goals, therapeutic principles, and instructional standards
  • Adapt content to be culturally responsive and accessible for diverse learners across K12 grade levels
  • Support the preparation of lessons and presentations for digitization, ensuring consistency, clarity, and usability on an LMS platform
  • Incorporate feedback from pilot sites and internal reviewers to refine content and improve lesson effectiveness

You Have:

  • Bachelors Degree required, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in developing and delivering mental health and/or social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in curriculum design, including writing and producing high-quality learning materials such as lesson guides, facilitator manuals, and PowerPoint presentations for diverse K-12 audiences.
  • Experience providing school-based mental health services, including group therapy and behavioral interventions.
  • Familiarity with CBT, DBT, trauma-informed practices, and other evidence-based approaches.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive mental health care.
