About the role
JMS Group employ 50+ staff undertaking civil & structural engineering designs and has been serving the Construction Industry for over 25 years.
We have an opening for a Graduate Structural Engineer to join our team at our Ipswich office to undertake designs on a variety of projects, from small domestic extensions to large, multi-storey apartment and office developments. Working alongside colleagues within the local office as well as those in other parts of the Group, you will be encouraged to develop your design experience and skills and be supported to obtain accreditation to the Institute of Structural Engineers.
With project costs up to £12m and the use of the latest design software, the role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in impactful, high-value projects. A competitive salary will be offered, commensurate with the importance of this role within our company.

We have opportunities available in our Ipswich office, covering East Anglia.

Responsibilities
- Use the latest design software to create and manage designs.
- Liaise with key clients and discuss design/technical solutions with team members and stakeholders.
- Ensure projects are appropriately resourced, delegating work to team members, programming deliverables, and monitoring progress.
Qualifications:
We are looking for an ambitious, self-motivated and driven Graduate Structural Engineer able to meet the following criteria:
- Degree qualified in Structural Engineering or related discipline
- Understanding of the use of design tools within a BIM environment
- Use of industry design standards, i.e. DMRB; Manual for Streets; NJUG, SSG etc.
- Problem solver, able to offer solutions to challenges
- Able to work and collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Confident, articulate, collaborative & proactive
- Eagerness to learn and to develop your skills and career with training support
- Good time management and organisational skills to efficiently manage workload.
- A good knowledge of the CDM regulations in addition to British standards and EU regulations.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel across the UK to visit sites and other JMS offices.
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK and be able to demonstrate proof when requested.
